The seven deadly sins can be found in the Book of Proverbs of the Holy Bible. They are formally “six things the Lord hateth, and the seventh His soul detesteth.” I have written some notes in my sketch book (as shown above) about the original deadly sins and how they correlate with our modern translation. It’s interesting to note that each sin is related to a body part: eyes, tongue, hands, heart, feet, and mouth. The seventh sin could deal with the whole body or arms needed for sowing the Earth. Ultimately, all of these sins are interconnected. Some sins (Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy) can cross paths easily whereas others stand obviously on their own (Wrath). But each scene has an opposing “virtue” and association with one demon (as listed above), so all can stand on their own.
The most powerful is obviously Pride which is associated with the Fallen Angel, Lucifer. If you know the story, Lucifer was one of God’s Archangels who defied his judgment and questioned whether God loved the humans more than his angels. For that, God had Michael (another Archangel) cast Lucifer out of Heaven. Lucifer fell into the pits of Hell and assumed leadership as the Devil.
